My ONLY RULE for myself is:

No Brushes used on Background -

only paint bottles, fingers, hands, maybe a straw top, maybe a stick rolled along a section

maybe bubble wrap used as a stamp, a spray bottle, or sponge

but NEVER NEVER a brush.
