Silhouette Witch Painting with Black Cat and Moon Beams

So excited about this Silhouette Painting! It turned out exactly as I imagined, which isnt ALWAYS the case, sometimes my idea changes as I begin the effort, I see some possibility that would seem to work better, or realize that an idea just cant be realized.
However, this time the Moon Beams, background trees, even the insinuation of a cloud over the Moon turned out exactly as I wanted. Yummy. Its not a big piece, only 13x17, which still isnt exactly Miniature! The signature is on the Frame portion, not the inside painting, the Hat does seem to hang on the tree branch, and the feeling of joy and abandon is conveyed in the painting as I wanted, so I just Truly HOPE that somebody else sees it too, then I will feel Understood, and that my effort is worthwhile... So, we will see. This item is for buy-it-now style on ebay, instead of Auction format, which is really what I am doing with all of my Artwork that I offer there now.
The Auction thing isnt really intended for the Art, at least I dont think so. I could put a Reserve on it if I didnt want to sell until it got to a certain price. Thats an idea to explore soon maybe. How about you Artists out there? How do you feel about Reserve and Buy-it-Now as opposed to Auction format - LMK ! chat at admin@loralai.com or loryia.bond@gmail.com.

Sketch of new Artwork for Kathryn

This is the sketch for a new Painting. Sketch size is 14x17, and i hope to transfer directly to the support without changing the size of the man and woman too much. I used the images I received to create an outdoor garden theme, with one design used for the 'pendant' lights, which kind of hang in the air, a 'mountain' provides the surface for another image, which is the trailing ivy pattern covering a large portion of the background. The rug portion will be a kind of sisal or natural bamboo stuff, represented by another image sent to me, and the color would be a natural brown/tan/creamy combo. (?)
The figures are seated on a fancy, plush chaise. She is reclining against his chest as requested, dreaming, resting or sleeping. His expression feels protective and loving. Perhaps He is home from a long day at last, and they are sharing a moment in an outdoor garden, relaxing in eachother's arms.
She is wearing a simple cotton summer dress and slippers with a puffy top, kind of fancy. His clothing is office-y dress, with shiny black shoes perhaps and stripes in his shirt with pink fishy suspenders as requested. The pattern in the pendant lights is repeated in the chaise legs.
I would like to do this painting in either warm, tropical colors OR a blue to beige peach, mentioned in a previous email. PLEASE lmk what u think, sweetie. My daughters Godson just arrived and so I must go and KISS and HUG him.
Love, Loralai

She's Ready ! Private Request for a Red Fairy Girl

So happy to post this Requested Fairy Girl. The support, a recaptured cabinet door I found (as usual) as Habitat for Humanity's Rebuild Center, is a really dark one this time. I tried to use an unfinished door but it had like a gouge on the side which I tried to smooth out or fill in, neither worked ! So I had to get out the sand paper and my Elbow Grease ! These 'framed' doors are getting so hard to find ! But I keep looking, because they are my favorite supports to work with.. Years ago, I painted on wood because it was cheap and easy to find. Later I was able to buy canvas, and learned to stretch it myself, but after all, I hunt for the cabinet doors. And the money goes back to a very worthy cause, and I like that alot.

The color, called 'Moroccan Red' is a Folk Art brand I think, but I went to look for more and they were out. The spot was even gone. Hmmm.... So glad I had enough for this painting.

I used a photo of the last Red Fairy Girl (titled Flower Girl) to create this one, the only difference is I added some dots around the swirlies, and blue eyes this time instead of green - I gotta have SOME Fun !!! Still, the painting is not an exact copy of the last one, and I dont want it to be either. Each is one-of-a-kind, and so this one will never be exactly reproduced either.

I think this sketch would look nice painted all greenish-blue. Like a swishy mix of both colors (Like the painting titled Fairy Club - Members Only posted a short while ago. (Replacing the red entirely.) Maybe one day I'll do it, but not now because I've got a coupla Witch ideas. A pretty midnight blue, graduated to an eerie moonlit white for a background, then, well, just wait and see -
Check back often, and thanks for looking at my blog!!!
************************************************************************************

ANYHOW ! Your Fairy Girl is Ready !!! If you are satisfied with her, and would like to purchase this Painting the cost is $49. I will cover the shipping cost. The size is apx. 18"x23". I have not varnished it yet, so it will take a day or two before she can be packed. I can send a paypal request or feel free to send a personal check. LMK, and thanks for your interest in my art.

Get in touch at admin@loralai.com, or loryia.bond@gmail.com . Or leave a comment here - I'll check back later today.

The pictured Cabinet front is a find from Habitat for Humanity (again)! When I went in last week in my flip-flop and sundress, the employees give me this look that says 'there she is again - the one who knocked down all the cabinet doors...'. I KNOW that is what they are thinking ONLY because of this ONE TIME when I DID knock down all of the doors. ONE TIME !!!
And that was ONLY because I saw this particular door that I just KNEW was the one I wanted! It was all the way at the top, and under a bunch of Heavy doors. When I pulled on it, they all came crashing down, which took what seemed like half an hour, but was only long enough for ALL of the volunteer employees who were wearing sensible, hard-toe shoes and cover-alls or Whatever to come and see me standing there in the midst of about 100 wood cabinet doors.
They said 'Do you need any help?' I said I would like to look at the Cabinet Door way up there on the top of the stack that was still standing, and one of the nice fellows got it down for me. But I didnt like it anyways. :)
And since then, they all give me this rolly-eye when I show up. Well, that does not stop me, and THANK GOODNESS because last time I found these 2 matching cabinet fronts, and I Just Know they are gonna turn out GREAT ! This one features a sleeping Kitty Cat, which has Cast a Spell on the Heart of this pretty, rennaissance style Witch.
Big, 18x24, sturdy and ready to hang, a real gem for the Witch Collector. Folk Art style, I plan on using the other recycled door to do a similar design, probably a Fairy Tale Witch, somehow holding a Big Red Apple !
And if those Volunteers would organize that Rebuild Store a little better, then I could find what I wanted a lot more easily.

K. The Key words for this effort are 'probably' and 'maybe'. I probably have looked at it too long and have lost my focus and ability to make a coherent judgement on the outcome. Maybe i have misjudged the shading. It is supposed to be set in the darkness with 'maybe' the Moon shining on the water lilly petals. The petals are printed from a Fairy book I often use. It is pretty old and I've got lots of stuff sticking inside the pages like photos, half done ideas, pieces and scraps of projects that didnt work out, at least, not yet. Everything falls out when I pick it up but that does not stop me from picking it up and letting everything fall out. Maybe I still have not got the message that I should clean out that book and probably organize the miscellaneous contents.
The lilly pads are Mulberry Paper, which has threads running though it and looks very natural and pretty, plus I liked the olive color. I used jewelry wire to make the words 'Nite Life', but I'm not sure it shows up very well. I am glad to be able to make the words using the wire though, because otherwise how would I get them? Craft stores have some 'word' options, but they are usually limited to 'Dream' and 'Love', you know the deal.
Anyways, I finally got the 'Bright' (teehee) idea to paint the petals white, which added the only possibility of success to the effort. The paper bag dragonfly wings have some sparkly blue added which is similar to what I've seen in real dragonflies. I hope so anyways, then i got desperate and put silver glitter on the body, which is pearl paper clay. 12"x12"x1".
Well, its O.K. I'm on to the next Artwork idea, which is 2 witches on old recaptured (recycled!) wood cabinet fronts. They match, and are extraordinary in style, so I have high hopes for these pieces, which means I better not goof them up. They will be 2 witches, one black hair and dress holding a white cat, the other an opposite, white hair and dress holding a black cat. They will be wearing crowns which replicate castles, a scary one and a kind of princess one.
Thanks for reading all of this nonsense. :-)

DRAGONfly Mixed Media COLLage 'FLYING DREAM'

I have had the Dream of Flying only 2 times. Maybe 3. And I dream ALOT. Vividly. In long 'Movies'. Sometime I have like premonitions i guess. And sometimes i dream of things that happened recently, but i had no knowledge of them at the time. I will tell my Mom about them, and She will sometimes tell me about something that just happened which she hadnt thought to tell me about yet. Once i dreamed about a cyber-pal who lives in San Franscisco. I dreamed I was at a Store or Restaurant she owned. Her husband and mine were there too. Business was great, the store was really rustic, lots of wood fixtures, and people were buying like souvenirs and gift-y items. It was So Fun. When I told her about it she said 'That was my Store near Haight/Ashbury back in the 60's'. Gave us both chills... She's such a hippie too. Still!
Anyway, if you ever have a Flying Dream, you are very lucky. They are rare.
This effort on Canvas (for a change) is representative of my Flying Dream. Paper bags make the wings, sprayed with water and crumpled. Dried Rose petals from my personal collection, paper confetti, hand cut, glass beads, stars and a small butterfly print of my Original Art is mounted on Stained Glass and added to the piece. The Dragonfly is made of Pearl Paper Clay. Acrylics are used for the first layer. Semi-gloss sealer spray is used in several coats to make the wings hard and secure all the stuff onto the canvas. I bought the silvery charm at a craft store, and was glad to have it this morning for this Artwork!
I REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR COMMENTS on my Artwork. Follow this blog and I get FREE Signed Prints of any of my Artwork on the blog!

MORNING GLORY - new painting !

This recycled wood cabinet door was a find at Habitat for Humanity's Re-Build center.
I used yellow ochre and a bright gloss yellow for the background. Metallic pinky-fuschia and cobalt blue are used for the 'Morning Glory' portion, with gloss white centers.
Pearl paint glazes the flowers and also the frame, over the white gloss. Very striking, a lovely Portrait style pose.
She has a Mae West feel, I think. Do you?

here are s'more pics of this fairy girl painting

This cute fairy girl is ready for her new Home !
Moroccan Red, which has a touch of orange, is paired with yellow ochre and a kind of transparent black, and the result is almost an old-fashioned Renaissance feel. I really love the look of carved flowers in the painting. Oh, BTW the size is ... hold on i gotta get my measuring tape......OK. 18"x24". Thats nice and generous for a striking, Original Wall Hanging. Show your Pals you support Outsider Art, specifically MINE !! :)

Flower Girl - NEW Folk Art Painting

This painting started with a trip to my local

Habitat for Humanity Re-Build Store.

Sturdy shoes required for rummaging thru

lots of Home Repair/Restoration stuff to find a

suitable 'Framed' cabinet door.

Scuffed, Sealed, Painted and Finished,

Available today probably at my Etsy Store.

She would also look great on a paper mache Trinket Box.

Maybe I'll do that too.

Looking forward to September when I hope to do

a Winterfair sale. This image may be there also!

Her title is 'Flower Girl'. The Orangy-Red color is totally

Beautiful with the Yellow Ochre hair and slick black frame.

Used a wet pencil-top eraser to 'carve' the flower designs, and

some permanent marker lines to accent. The result

is a dimensional, carved look, with the paint lightened to represent

the dress, and the black paint allows some brush-strokes to

come thru. Since the painting is done directly over the maple-finish

of the frame, the color comes thru slightly, which is exactly

what I wanted. Mmmmmm. So satisfying.

Fairy Club - Members Only ! Whimsical Folk Art on recycled framed wood

This is my last wood cabinet door.
Now I gotta go hunt for more with the 'frame'.
Hope I am successful - this kind seems to be harder to find lately.
I have a great building supply spot nearby,
but ya never know what they will have.
Kind of a hodge podge, but that makes it fun.
I havent listed this one for sale yet.

Collage Art

An interesting story is behind this Mermaid Collage - Literally ! A favorite page from one of my Mermaid Books is copied for the background of this Mixed Media artwork. Acrylics are used to paint the head and body, then art paper, raffia and shells are added to embellish and add interest to the piece. Sealed with a Matte finish, and a sprinkle of blue deco-sand is tossed on for a final touch. Very textured and touchable. Ready for my Etsy shop soon. Gonna do a series of these on Canvas Art Boards. Could be displayed as is with the tooth-style hanger on back, or framed for a different look.

BIRDS of a FEATHER

Abby Buttons' new Painting!
Title: 'Birds of a Feather'
She's still on Vacation, Cape Cod is beautiful this time of year! A lighthouse photo on the Cape was the muse for this Fairy Painting. The birds around her match her pretty pantaloons, and she's having a Blast! Isnt she cute!!
